Writing out of the blue — 16 Comments

  1. Love it, as always. You create more tension between these two in a shorter space than they can tolerate without combusting, and I adore it all. I just hope we get to see the rest of the story at some point. Thank you for sharing your writing!

  2. That was lovely Abigail! Now what happens?? I’m glad to see that your muse is engaged in her usual excellent style. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us.

Can’t wait to see you next month.

  3. Wow! That is a beautiful scene. I love your language!

“Oh, yes, Elizabeth, you tempt me. Every second, every minute, every hour, every day, waking or sleeping, you tempt me almost beyond reason.”

    Can’t wait to read more!

  4. Your Darcy is wonderful and this is so beautifully written – is it part of a new novel or a short story? Either way I can’t wait to read the rest!

  5. That was beautifully written… I have read all your pride and prejudice variations and I am unable to put them down when I start to read them which makes it hard to go to work.

  6. WOW!.
    A wonderful surprise!,Thanks Abigail.
The words traspass the page and the reader, me, can feel them as if I was seeing them talking and in Darcy case, feeling.
By the way, I can’t wait to read Mr.Darcy’s obsession and To Conquer Mr.Darcy

    María.

  7. Abigail, absolutely loved it, hoping to see more of it! I’m looking forward to your new book coming out in October, I have everything else.

So happy to read of an inspired Abigail, I have admired your work, talent and friendliness within the JAFF community for many many years. I know there have been some rough patches but you have persevered. Congratulations.

  8. Wonderful, wonderful bit of writing.
Abigail you are my favourite writer and have been so from when I first read ‘Impulse and Initiative’ years ago. You never disappoint. Just started to read my print out of ‘Bounds of Decorum’ again and waiting impatiently for it to come out in bookform.

  9. Abigail,
What are you up to now? Just came across this and it’s too tempting for words! Your muse is on overdrive and I can’t wait for this one! I hope this is a new book.

  10. Wow – I just came across this site and am so pleased to find more of your writing (loved and have ALL your books!) – Is another in the works? Your work is just beautiful!

  11. Love all of your writing. You are an exceptionally talented writer and story teller.

    This piece is absolutely lovely.

  12. Thanks! This is actually an excerpt from a piece of complete Muse-irresponsibility. Though I’m working on a new Pemberley Variation, this is a continuation of an old short story with absolutely no publication potential. For some reason my muse decided that A Brighter Future (posted at 50 Miles – http://www.scotch-and-sirens.waw.pl/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=944) needed two more chapters. Since the premise of the original story wasn’t even mine, I have no idea why it needed more or what I’ll do with it now that it’s mostly written! But I figured people might enjoy this passage even if it’s out of context. 🙂
